What this internship actually is
Most content internships are watching someone else post. This one is making. Cocoon runs sessions across the region, builds free tools and writes constantly — and there is far more happening than there is content coming out of it.
You will cut the video from a workshop, design the carousel that explains a tool, write the post that goes with it. Some of what you make will be public within your first fortnight, and you will see exactly how it performed.
What you'll be doing
- Shoot and cut video. Sessions, workshops, quick explainers. Short vertical video is most of what travels now, and you will own it.
- Design what goes with it. Carousels, thumbnails, slides, social graphics. Consistent enough to look like us, interesting enough to stop a scroll.
- Write the words. Captions, blog posts, tool descriptions. You will have your own pieces in the queue, edited with you rather than rewritten behind you.
- Turn one thing into five. A single workshop is a video, a carousel, three posts and a blog piece. Getting good at that is the whole job.
- Watch what lands. Which posts travel, which ones die quietly — and say what you would do differently.
- Use AI properly. Scripting, editing, repurposing, thumbnails. We will show you where it genuinely helps and where it quietly makes work worse.
What you'll leave with
A reel of published work with your name on it — video, design and writing that went out to a real audience, not a folder of mock-ups. Real numbers attached to real pieces, so you can say what worked and why.
And a working habit with AI across the whole content pipeline that most creators twice your age do not have yet.
Who this is for
- You already make things. Edits, reels, a page you design for, a newsletter, thumbnails for a friend's channel — anything. Send it.
- You can cut video in something — CapCut, Premiere, Resolve, your phone. The tool matters far less than your eye for a cut.
- You can write a sentence. Not essays — captions that make someone stop.
- You are curious about AI and have already played with the tools rather than only read about them.
- Undergraduate, fresh graduate, or self-taught. No degree required — the work you can show matters more.
- Based in or near Colombo and able to be in the room on session days, camera in hand.
Worth knowing before you apply
It is a real job, at intern scale
You get genuine responsibility and genuine deadlines. Nobody here has time to invent busywork, which is the good news and the demanding news.
Your work gets notes
First cuts and first drafts come back marked up. That is the whole point — it is the fastest way anyone gets better, and it stops being uncomfortable by about week three.
Six months, then an honest conversation
If it works for both of us we talk about what comes next. We would rather say that plainly than dangle a job that may not exist.
Hybrid, not remote
Editing happens anywhere, but filming does not. Session days are in Colombo and you will want to be there with a camera.
How hiring works
- Apply below — your CV and a few honest lines. A person reads every one.
- You hear back either way, usually within two weeks.
- A short conversation — half an hour about what you have made and what you want to learn.
- A small paid task — make one short piece for us — a cut, a carousel or a post, your pick. We pay for your time even at this stage.
